Big news!

I have some big news!

I've sadly decided not to continue with my current Team in Training campaign for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco. Please don't hate me. I'm so so so so so dedicated to the cause, and I'm still going to fundraise for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as the team captain of Team Mom for the LLS's Light the Night campaign this year (4th year! Woohoo!). But, I just can't dedicate myself to raising the $3,900 for the Nike Women's between now and October. Life has gotten a little rough in the last few months, and I'm trying to remove as many stressors as possible at the moment. Unfortunately, I can't give up law school, which is the stressor I really want to eliminate!

Check out my fam at Light the Night two years ago. Darn, we're cute!

This absolutely does not mean that I'm going to stop training! In fact, there's a trail marathon here in Georgia (the North Face Endurance Challenge) on the same day as the Nike Women's, and I've already gone ahead and registered. I might even do a road marathon a month before that (The Air Force Marathon in Dayton, Ohio). I'll keep you posted on my developing racing plans!

  1. Aww, sorry to hear that it's not working out for you. That is a hell of a lot of money to try to raise while you're doing law school/training/having something that vaguely resembles a life. On the bright side, if you do the marathon the month before we'll be on the same schedule and can do a long run or two together while I'm home in September! (If I ever get my flights booked...)

You'll have plenty of time to do fundraising for LLS when you're not in LS. :)

  2. Oh wow... I'm just now catching up on blogs after awhile of being away from internet. Initially I thought you were saying you weren't gonna do a marathon at all because of law school and I was ready to get sad (because I am falling behind on my training due to grad school and ack..) But I'm glad you're still running one!!

Also, I'm not far from Dayton! If you do that one maybe I will come volunteer and cheer you on!! (And if you aren't creeped out by staying with a total stranger, and you need a place to stay, you should let me know that too... I have a kinda small place but always welcome to visitors--especially vegan ones! I think I'm about 50 minutes from Dayton :)

  3. I know how difficult this is for you!! I trained with TNT last fall for Marine Corp. I was soooo close to dropping it because of the stress of fundraising. It was so hard and I barely slid by. Luckily, my parents were able to help me out with the last bit. Good luck with your training!
Also, most of my family is from Dayton and I've looked into doing the Air Force Marathon in the future! It looks fun!
I love your blog by the way :)

  4. Hey! Was really glad I stumbled into your blog. It's inspiring how you've managed to continue with lawschool while training for marathons. My social life was near absent (except for crazy outings with classmates) in lawschool so I can imagine what you've had to deal with. Good luck with your training. Seeing you motivated is getting me psyched to start training too. I've done way too many "just for fun" runs. Will be following your blog. =)
